San Giorgio Café, a unique place on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice

6 April marks the opening of the “San Giorgio Café with Filippo La Mantia“, the café/restaurant of the island of San Giorgio in Venice.

The gastronomical project, decided on by the Giorgio Cini Foundation to optimise the reception services of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, has been created by D’Uva with the host and cook Filippo La Mantia

A small 19th century building, the former casetta delle monache near the Benedictine walls of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, has a pleasant, elegant terrace where you can enjoy an aperitif on balmy summer evenings.

The sober, elegant interior, in keeping with the spirit of the place, make the spectacular view of the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore even more special. In fact, the bistro/restaurant overlooks the lagoon and the Bacino di San Marco and its terrace provides a beautiful setting for the lucky customers.

The San Giorgio Cafè serves Mediterranean cuisine, with Sicilian and in particular Palermo traditions taking centre stage, along with Tuscan and Venetian dishes.

The café caters for an international clientele who come to the island for various reasons.
